Arcanum is developed by Ben Treder. This Privacy Policy explains how Arcanum handles information when you use the app.
1. No account required
Arcanum does not require an Arcanum account.
You do not need to sign up, sign in, provide an email address, or maintain an online profile to use the vault.
2. Information stored in Arcanum
Arcanum lets you choose what information to save in your private vault.
This may include:
- Passwords and website logins
- PINs and access codes
- Wi-Fi details
- Card and banking notes
- Recovery codes
- Secure notes
- Documents and identification details
- Membership information
- Vehicle information
- Pet information
- Medical notes
- Hosting, SSH, server, and website details
- Other information you choose to enter
Arcanum does not automatically collect this information. It is entered and managed by you.
3. Local encrypted storage
Vault contents are stored locally on your device using encrypted storage.
Arcanum does not upload or sync your vault contents to developer servers.
The developer cannot view, decrypt, or recover the contents of your vault.
No security system is perfect. You should keep your device secure and use a strong device passcode, PIN, or biometric lock where available.
4. No ads, analytics, or tracking
Arcanum does not contain advertising.
Arcanum does not use analytics, behavioral tracking, advertising identifiers, or tracking SDKs.
Arcanum does not use vault information to create advertising or marketing profiles.
5. No Arcanum cloud sync
Arcanum does not use Firebase, Supabase, or an Arcanum cloud-sync service.
Vault contents are not sent to an Arcanum backend or developer-controlled server.
The app may connect to Google Play only to display Premium product information, process an optional Premium purchase, check purchase status, or restore a previous Premium purchase.
Vault contents are not sent to Google Play as part of this process.
6. Optional Arcanum Premium purchase
Arcanum offers an optional one-time Premium upgrade through Google Play. The product ID is arcanum_pro_lifetime.
Google Play processes the payment.
To unlock or restore Premium, the app may receive purchase-related information from Google Play, such as:
- The purchased product ID
- Localized product and price information
- Purchase status
- Purchase acknowledgement status
- A purchase or transaction token
Arcanum uses this information only to determine whether Premium features should be available.
Arcanum does not receive or store your complete payment card number or full payment credentials.
After Google Play confirms a valid purchase, Arcanum may securely store a local Premium entitlement status on your device so Premium can continue working offline.
Google Play handles purchase information according to Google’s own privacy practices.
7. Device features Arcanum may use
Biometric authentication
If enabled by you, Arcanum may use Android biometric authentication, such as fingerprint or face unlock.
Arcanum does not receive or store your fingerprint or facial biometric data. Authentication is handled by Android and your device.
Clipboard access
Arcanum may place a value on the clipboard when you tap a copy button.
The app may attempt to clear copied sensitive values after a short period when supported by the device.
Other apps or system services may be able to read clipboard contents while a copied value remains there.
Secure device storage
Arcanum uses device security features to help protect vault keys, settings, and locally confirmed Premium status.
Files and documents
When you choose to export or restore an encrypted backup, Arcanum may open Android’s document picker or sharing interface.
Arcanum does not automatically scan your files, photos, or media library.
Screen protection
Arcanum may use Android screen-protection features to block screenshots or screen previews on sensitive screens.
Google Play Billing
Arcanum connects to Google Play when checking, purchasing, or restoring the optional Premium upgrade.
8. Encrypted backups
Arcanum creates a backup only when you choose to export one.
Backup files are encrypted before being shared outside the app. You choose where the backup is saved, which may include device storage, email, a cloud drive, or another app.
Arcanum does not control the destination you choose.
Once a backup is sent to another app or service, that destination’s privacy and security practices apply.
You are responsible for safely storing exported backups and protecting your PIN.
9. No sale of vault data
Arcanum does not sell vault contents or personal information.
Arcanum does not share vault contents with advertisers, data brokers, analytics providers, or marketing services.
Optional purchase processing is handled by Google Play as described in this policy.
10. Support communications
If you contact support by email or through the feedback option, the developer may receive:
- Your email address
- The contents of your message
- Device or Android version information you choose to include
- Screenshots or attachments you choose to send
This information is used only to respond to your request, investigate a reported problem, or improve Arcanum.
Do not include real passwords, PINs, payment card numbers, backup files, or other vault secrets in support messages.
11. Deleting local information
You can delete locally stored vault information by using Reset Vault inside Arcanum or by uninstalling the app.
Resetting or uninstalling Arcanum does not automatically delete encrypted backup files that you previously exported. You must delete those files separately from wherever you saved them.
A Google Play purchase record may remain associated with the Google account used to make the purchase. This allows an eligible Premium purchase to be restored after reinstalling the app.
12. Lost PINs and recovery limits
The developer cannot recover your PIN.
The developer cannot decrypt your vault or encrypted backups.
If you lose your PIN, you may permanently lose access to your vault and backup contents.
Restoring a Premium purchase does not restore vault data.
13. Keeping your device secure
You should:
- Keep Android and your device security updates current
- Use a device passcode or biometric lock
- Keep your Arcanum PIN private
- Avoid copying sensitive information when unnecessary
- Store encrypted backups somewhere safe
- Avoid storing sensitive information on devices you do not control
14. Future changes
If Arcanum’s data practices or features change, this Privacy Policy will be updated before or when those changes are released.
Any future cloud-sync, account, analytics, advertising, or developer-server feature would require an updated disclosure.
