Tools and Software
Alongside the web design and WordPress work, I build practical tools for website owners, small businesses, and developers. These are things I made to solve real problems: finding broken pages, organizing files safely, and spotting common website issues fast.
Most of these tools are free and open source. A few have WordPress plugin versions for people who prefer an in-dashboard option. None of them require a subscription to get started.
Built by Ben Treder. Sacramento-based web designer and developer.
Current tools
Available tools and software
Each tool is built to be straightforward. Install it, run it, and get a useful result. No accounts, no dashboards, no bloat.
Website Fix Finder
A free website scan and report tool that checks for common website issues: missing meta descriptions, slow load indicators, broken contact info, missing HTTPS, and other basics that affect how a business website looks to visitors and search engines.
Best for: owners who want a quick, plain-English check of common website issues.
CheckMyError AI
Paste a website, WordPress, hosting, DNS, SSL, plugin, or server error and get a plain-English explanation plus safe next steps. If the error still feels confusing, you can send it to Ben for review and possible done-for-you fixing.
Best for: owners who want to understand an error first, with the option of hands-on help.
WD-404 Website Diagnostics
A website diagnostics and 404 checking tool that crawls a site and reports on broken pages, redirect chains, crawl issues, and common problems that hurt both user experience and search visibility. Open source and available on GitHub.
Best for: finding broken pages, redirect chains, and crawl issues on larger sites.
Klene
A safe cleanup utility for Linux and Windows with a modern GUI and a CLI. Klene scans for cleanup opportunities, explains what it finds, and lets you preview before anything is removed. Nothing gets cleaned until you confirm it. It started on Arch Linux, which still has the deepest support, and version 0.2.0 adds provider-based cleanup for more Linux distributions and Windows. Open source and available on GitHub.
Best for: Linux and Windows users who want cleanup help without risky commands.
SafeSort AI
A local file organization assistant built around a preview-first, rollback-safe workflow. It scans a directory, shows what it plans to do, and waits for confirmation before moving anything. Designed for people who have been burned by aggressive auto-organizers before.
Best for: safely organizing local files with a preview-first, undoable workflow.
Local Business Command Center
A free report tool for local business owners. Answer a few questions about your website, Google Business Profile, reviews, and contact setup, and get a simple action plan showing what to fix first.
Best for: local owners who want a simple "fix this first" action plan.
WordPress plugins alongside these tools
Some of these tools also exist as WordPress plugins, making them easier to use for people who manage their site from the WordPress dashboard.
These tools and plugins are part of a larger network of sites, plugins, and projects I've built over time. See the full Ben Treder Network for a clearer picture of how it all fits together.
